There are many reasons why people may choose to use an Internet bank. One of the primary motivations for using an Internet bank is because some people do not have the time to visit their banks during opening hours. Aside from the timesaving benefits obtained from using an Internet bank, the whole process of visiting a bank can be tedious.

Hence, you can opt to use an Internet bank in order to avoid the hassle involved with paying your bank a visit. If you find that you have a busy working schedule or you simply do not find it convenient to visit your bank, then you might want to consider an Internet bank. Online banking is a fast and easy way of managing your bank account and it has the potential to save you a lot of time and money.

By using an Internet bank, you can obtain online access to your bank account details and perform actions such as checking your account balance, paying bills, transferring funds between your accounts, and applying for a wide range of Internet bank products. When searching for an Internet bank, you should make sure that you go for a bank that has a good reputation in the online banking industry.

Bearing this in mind, before approaching a separate Internet bank, it is always a good idea to ask your existing bank if they provide online banking services. It is also worth mentioning that reputable Internet bank sites have encrypted connections. Therefore, online banking not only saves you time, but also provides you with a safe and secure environment for managing your bank account.

In the UK, many banks and building societies are attempting to capture a sizeable percentage of the online banking market share. And it seems that the UK consumers are benefiting from this competition most. Online banking in the UK is getting big; there is no doubt about it: 6.5 million consumers are online banking customers. And that figure is projected to rise every year–not because of bank closures–because of the ease that online banking offers. Everyone can say that it is easy and some people may still be dubious about that. But to anyone who is an online banking customer, they will know just how easy and simple it is.

Before choosing an online bank to open an account study carefully what services the bank allows you to do online. Also check the accessibility of talking to a live person. Make sure the banks internet site allow you send secure emails.

The UK, like any other country, has banks on every street corner. And these banks try to lure new customers in with big bright signs: “apply now and get a 6.9% APR rate on your card!” When you are on the Internet, these banks take the same approach. On their websites, there are banners that banks use for advertising space because they recognize that so many people are using online banking; and that they need to emphasize their competitive advantages to draw customers over the Internet.

Some major U.K. banks have opened independent online banks such as Abbey National with www.cahoot.com. There is also www.smile.co.uk the online bank of The Co-operative Bank. Despite all of the advantages to online banking in the UK, not everything is perfect. One in twenty consumers will fall victim to online fraud; and when they do, it will cost them big time. The UK’s fraud cost last year was £58 million ($101 million), which is quite scary for consumers looking to join an online bank. To be honest, it is safer to use a brick-and-mortar bank; however, in order to keep this safety net, you must sacrifice convenience and flexibility.

If you decide to open an online banking account but are apprehensive about the security issues, you should spend a considerable amount of time selecting a unique and hard-to-crack password; and in addition to this, you should also use other values for your optional information that is hard to determine.

Other Online Internet Banking Security Tips:

Make sure your operating systems OS and browsers is updated with the latest upgrades (patches).

Use an anti-virus and anti-spyware programs update them and scan your pc at least once a week.

Install a personal firewall and learn to use it

Always close your browser window after online banking and delete cookies.

Change your passwords once a month.

Never reply to emails asking for you to update your password or give your password. The online banks will never ask for your password.

Always type in the browser address bar the online banking url. Do not click on a link especially in an email as this may take you to a scammer’s page.

Never bank online from an internet café.

After witnessing the rampage caused by the liquidity crunch, thinking about employing credit services to good use could only be taken as a dream. Quite possibly so, since after mayhem caused by the global crisis, arranging credit in any form has become an uphill task. Yes, credit card turned out to be a friend in need for this needy class who reacted quick enough to recognise the significance of this finance channel.

New studies are proving that banking online has become increasingly popular across all demographics.

A recent study found that the use of online banking has increased significantly over the past seven years. While there were only 3.5m users in 2000, now there are close to 21 million online bankers.

Experts believe the increase in online banking has stemmed from the fact that those services are becoming easier and more secure. In 2007, fraud figures from online banking dropped 33 per cent from the year before.

In addition, many banks are working to dole out security advice and promote safe practices to those users who are already banking online.

Online banking is often considered the easiest option when it comes to quick, daily services. Users can skip the lines at the bank branch and will find it easy to make transfers and bill payments online. For many simple tasks, online banking is often the quickest way to perform daily errands, as well as once-in-awhile tasks like international transfers.

Many banks now even let you start longer, more complicated processes online. If you’re hoping to apply for a loan or new account, often this can be done online. You can also choose to forego your printed statements each month if you’re viewing them online – this saves time, and the environment.

Though online banking is increasing in popularity, there are still plenty of face-to-face bank tellers available to answer any questions you might not be able to have answered online.

Before deciding to start online banking, be sure you understand everything your bank offers online. Offers differ from branch to branch, with some choosing to charge fees and others only allowing certain transactions online. Most banks will be more than happy to sit down for a meeting with you to make sure you understand what online banking means.

Experts also warn that online banking should be taken seriously. Though security has improved when it comes to keeping bank information safe, it’s still important to use common sense and caution when dealing with money online. Therefore, choose a hard-to-guess password and be sure to change it every few months. In addition, keep an eye on your statements to make sure you catch any suspicious activity.

It’s easier than ever for consumers to access their bank account online. Most banks in the UK offer convenient services that will allow you to do any of your banking errands quickly and easily.

If you’re ready to find the best CD rates in your area or on a national level, it’s not [...]

If you’re ready to find the best CD rates in your area or on a national level, it’s not as hard as you think. It only takes a few minutes of your time and another few minutes to sign up for a new account if you’re new to the bank. Below, we will highlight exactly how you find the best CD rates you’re looking for and where to find them.

Know exactly what you want

Before you start your search, know exactly how much money you’re going to invest into a CD. This will help your search when you’re looking at online banks or at your local banks. A majority of the banks you look at will require some sort of minimum. The minimum usually ranges anywhere from five hundred dollars and up. Generally, the higher the minimum is, the better the rate you’re going to get but this isn’t always the case. Once you know how much you’re going to invest, jot this down on a piece of paper to begin your search.

How long do you want?

When you invest into a CD, you’re generally locking your money with the bank for a certain time period. Depending on the time period, this will determine how much you’re interest is going to be. The longer you let the bank hold onto your money, the more you’re going to get on your money. The only downfall is, is that you’re not going to be able to touch this money until the CD matures. You can access your money before the CD matures but you’re going to look at early withdrawal penalties with your bank.

Bank CDs generally come in all sorts of terms. Some of the popular lengths are 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, and 5 years. Once again, depending on how long you want to have the bank hold onto your money, it’s all up to you. Once you decide, jot this down along side of the amount you’re going to invest. Typically, this is what the banks will need.

Find a bank

You’re usually going to find the best rate online. When you’re searching for a CD rate, make sure that the bank is FDIC insured and also make sure that the bank has a good reputation. If you’re uncomfortable with an online bank, you may also check your local branches. Don’t go with the first local branch you encounter, there are chances that other banks are offering higher CD rates.

Whether you want to apply online or locally, it’s all up to you. If you do apply online, you’re going to get a better rate. Once you find the proper bank, the bank will be able to guide you through the process on how to set it up. If you want to find out how much money you’re going to make on that CD, make sure you use some helpful CD rate calculators online. This will show you the exact amount you’re going to receive from the bank at the end of the maturation for the CD.

Best Buys From Secure Trust Bank We certainly haven’t changed our strategy for raising deposits but the market has changed fundamentally around us as many people will have seen. I said earlier that good traditional banking is what we do. We bring money in by raising deposits from customers and we lend money out sensibly to other customers and that’s what we will carry on doing. What I do want to stress is that we do not play the games that a lot of banks play which is to put a very …
Help answer the question aboutbest bank rates
Who has the best savings and cd rates for online bank accounts?
I am familiar with ING Direct, but I know there are others with better rates.

With all the attention online banking has received in the last couple of years, it seems there are new online banks popping up everywhere. Users are choosing online banking for its ease and convenience. And while issues of identity theft are important factors to consider with online banking, it has not stopped people from utilizing the Web to streamline their finances.

Even more importantly, recent studies suggest that Internet banking doesn’t just make life easier, customers who choose it seem to be more satisfied with their bank. The two areas of greatest satisfaction fall in the categories of the convenience online banking provides and the ability to pay bills online. One recent industry report indicated that satisfaction with online banking services is up 5.5 percent. The report also shows that users who pay their bills online experience not only satisfaction with the ability to bank online, but with their specific banking institution, suggesting users have strong confidence in their bank’s ability to secure identity. In fact, similar reports have also shown that those who pay bills online retain their business longer at a particular bank than those who do not use a bank’s online service.

As a result, banks are seeing tremendous growth in online service. One major commercial bank cited that in 2004, there were 3.4 million customers paying bills online, followed by an increase to 6 million online bill payers just a year later. Many bankers believe those kinds of increases are the result of services such as online bill pay that customers find most appealing.

Many first-time users come to online banking to access their account information such as account balances and check activity. That is followed by the ability to transfer funds between accounts. And finally, many users then move into online bill pay. Perhaps they start with paying a few utilities online at the utility’s website. They may then look into the online bill pay service offered by their bank. Now, banks are seeing more and more users receiving bills electronically.

Yet for some bank customers, concerns about identity theft keep them from trying online banking. Interestingly, their counterparts who do use the Internet to conduct banking do not seem to hold those same perceptions. Most are satisfied with the level of online security offered by their banks. The challenge then for banks lies in the continued education of their customers to try online banking and discover for themselves the high level of security in place at most banks. Once those customers give online banking a try, perceptions of risk seem to decrease, reports indicate. Surprisingly, these same reports discovered that today’s security measures put in place by PC users and banks have many ID thieves targeting potential victims offline.

The following are a few tips to consider when choosing an Internet bank account:

1.	The Annual Percentage Yield (APR) may be higher with Internet bank accounts, and therefore one of the most important attractions for those looking for a high yield. Conducting transactions online may save the bank money, and those savings may then be passed on to the online customer, most often in the form of higher savings rates.
2.	Ability to access money. Online users need to consider what steps are involved in accessing their money in an online account.
3.	Ability to link accounts. Users want the ability to link various accounts to one another, making it easy to move money seamlessly between online bank accounts.
4.	What types of additional services are available? Potential users should be interested in not only banking online, but purchasing CDs, applying for a mortgage, and paying bills online.
5.	Security. Users must confirm that their online bank is FDIC insured and that the security system can be trusted.
6.	Ability to set up automatic savings account. There’s no reason not to save today with an online account that electronically deposits money into a savings or money market account.

The online bank is a wonderful thing. It has all the features of a traditional bank and also has some new features too. Hence people can use these features and simplify the way they handle their banking needs. Online banking services have thus given the power to human beings to operate at any time of the day as the websites operate 24 hours and 365 days every year.

The main features of online banking are many. The ability to check your accounts from anywhere makes the online banking feature amazing. The requirements are simple as these websites do not need any special type of software and are also quite simple to operate. They come with useful features like paying bills online and also acquiring bank statements without going to banks as these statements can be downloaded online.

There are not many differences in terms of functionality when it comes to online banking. The services that they offer are the same which are available in banks but the major difference is that these transactions do not require people to stand in counters and wait in a queue. All they have to do or normally do is to access the website of the bank and with just a few clicks of the mouse and few pushes on the buttons, you get to know many things. These things can be the amount of money that they have in their account, or making payments or even buying items with the help of the online shopping feature present in some of these websites. Then there are also services like management of loans and keeping specific financial history for individuals. Online banking services have thus been a boon rather than a bane and have entirely changed the way people now perceive banking services.

The world of online banking is a very big one with the inclusion of nearly all the features of a typical bank. Hence these services include deposits like special savings account, security deposit, fixed term deposit and also loans as well as investments and also insurance. Then there are also features like Demat accounts and NRI services. The websites provide all the important information relating to these services. This information include things like the features, the benefits, the required documents and also the provision for applying online. Hence taking the example of a service such as a fixed term deposit, all the information that is needed is available on the website. Therefore users can get to know about the different tenures as well as the vivid types of plans and also whether withdrawal in partial amount before the completion of the time period is allowed. They are also given a detailed list of the terms and the conditions which are necessary to be followed if a person is interested in opening a fixed term deposit.

There are features like applying online for these various kinds of services and also information about the interest rates as well as the benefits. For a person interested in acquiring a fixed term deposit (FD) has the choice to go to different bank websites and use their online features. Hence he does not have to go to the bank and get bombarded with multiple opinions and incorrect information about the procedure to have a FD. He can take advantage of features like online access to his FD in order to have information on things such as the accumulated amount in his FD and also the remaining time period.

The effect of frauds and embezzlement is nullified when the user avails of online banking services. These online accounts are extremely safe with individual passwords for individual customers and also there are a number of tracking and safety network software which are instilled in the functioning of these websites. Hence the change is dominant in banking as it is in all other forms of human activity and online banking is here to stay.

Those consumers wishing to maintain their secured loan costs should look to act as soon as possible, it has been suggested.

Research conducted by moneysupermarket has indicated that the top ten mortgage providers have increased their fixed-rate mortgage products following the Bank of England’s decision to raise the base rate last month.

Due to the quarter of a percentage hike to 5.5 per cent in May, consumers could well find the pressure to make secured loan payments increasing over the course of the next few months.

Louise Cuming, head of mortgages for moneysupermarket, said: “Borrowers needing the stability of a fixed-rate product should reserve their next deal now if their current mortgage term is set to end soon.

“While fixed rates have been looking pretty good in relation to the base rate, they appear to be going up – and fast.”

The financial firm indicated that lenders are continuing to increase costs on their fixed-rate deals, ahead of an increase to the base rate predicted to take place on July 5th – which consequently could place further pressure on those making repayments on secured homeowner loans.

Ms Cuming pointed out that Abbey pushed up the price of its fixed-rate products last week, with Halifax set to do the same today (June 25th).

“It is only a matter of time before other lenders follow suit and increase their rates again,” the industry expert claimed.

She added that those looking to maintain their monthly secured loan repayments in the future can reserve a mortgage deal at the current rate for a period of up to six months.

The comments from moneysupermarket are the second in recent weeks to suggest that cheap fixed-rate mortgages are becoming increasingly scarce.

Earlier this month, Moneyfacts spokesperson Lisa Taylor claimed many loan lenders are increasing interest rates on their products to beyond the six per cent figure.

She also pointed out that since the beginning of June “at least nine” suppliers have withdrawn some, or all, of their fixed-rate products.

As a result, the representative suggested that those concerned about meeting secured loan repayment costs should aim to take out a fixed-rate product as soon as possible as a third interest rate rise of the year could take place.

Ms Taylor said: “With a further rate rise still potentially on the cards for 2007, those consumers on a tight budget will need to act quickly before more of the current best buy fixed-rate deals vanish.”

She claimed those who fail to take out a fixed-rate product as their current deal expires are set for a “nasty shock” as monthly secured loan loan repayments rise.

However despite increased pressure to pay off loans, consumers were always advised to make repayments on their borrowing.

MoneyExpert chief executive Sean Gardner claimed that failing to make payments could see borrowers damage their credit rating and risk going to court.

His comments follow research indicating some 1,389,000 personal loan repayments have been missed so fear this year.

Mr Gardner said: “This is yet another warning of real financial distress and a sign that finances are being stretched to the limit by recent interest rate rises.”

export surplus. In substance, countries are producing their goods, exporting it mostly to the US, and parking the resulting export surpluses with the US to facilitate US to finance its imports! Clearly, the global imbalance is a by-product of this mindless competition by various countries to devalue their own currencies and the reckless consumption in US. Naturally, it is indeed tempting to blame US consumption for this crisis. However, one must hasten to add that the emerging economies – …
Help answer the question aboutcheap bank rates
Questions about trading in a car that is financed through the bank for a less expensive car?
We were wanting to trade in a car that we financed through a credit union for one that is a smaller, cheaper, and less of a gas guzzler. We have never traded in a car that wasn't already paid off, so I am wondering how this would work.

Will the dealership take over the loan from the bank and we would have to reapply for a new car loan? Or can they just switch the car titles out on the loan? (Since it has a really good rate, I don't want to lose the bank one.)
If we get a car that costs less than what we still owe on the first car, how will we get the difference? Will it paid towards the loan?

If someone could please explain this process before I even step foot onto a car dealership, it would be greatly appreciated!

It’s hard to believe that not all that long ago – in the distant past – there was no such thing as e-commerce. There was no place to sell goods to an international audience via the World Wide Web. All the consumer goods that are marketed and sold online today could only be purchased through a catalog, strictly to local consumers, or perhaps not at all.

But advances in technology changed all that. Electronic commerce, or e-commerce, emerged through the technology of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), which enabled businesses to send commercial documents, such as invoices or purchase orders, electronically. With the growth in the use of telephone banking, credit cards and ATMs, e-commerce began to evolve in the 1990s.

Commerce Takes on the World
It was during this decade that the Internet went worldwide, although it took the rest of the decade to create secure connections, as well as a digital subscriber line (DSL), allowing people to access the Web 24/7. By the new millennium, companies in the United States and Europe developed a presence on the Internet, offering their services or goods to an international audience. As a result, the term e-commerce has come to define the capability to purchase goods securely on the Internet via an electronic payment.

Business on the Internet has also given way to virtual commerce, or that which is conducted exclusively electronically for items deemed virtual. For instance, consumers might pay for access to what is considered premium information on a website. The concept of e-commerce has also opened the door to additional electronic terminology such as e-tailers which are online retailers, or e-tail, indicating retail sold online.

The act of companies who conduct business to business transactions via electronic commerce is termed Business-to-Business, or B2B. B2B transactions may involve a commodity exchange for any interested party, or a private electronic market (PEM), which connects a limited group of buyers or sellers in one market.

The Consumer and Business Advantage
This ability to conduct business to a worldwide audience has provided individuals with a whole new method of shopping. For the first time ever, customers could shop 24/7 from the comfort of their home. Instead of driving from one business to another in order to compare prices, it could be done online. And orders could be customized in a way specified by the buyer.

E-commerce also represented a revolutionary way for companies to conduct businesses – opening the door to a global marketplace. The system makes good sense for businesses on so many levels. For instance, the costs associated with processing orders and customer service is less through an automated process. Automated tools make it possible to communicate with online customers via e-mail regarding the status of their orders with virtually no additional cost to the business. And who can imagine an international online vendor squeezing their million-item inventory into one single catalog? Thanks to the Internet, companies can now create online catalogs that would never fit in an ordinary mailbox.

Other advantages of e-commerce have been realized, for instance, in staffing differences. Without having to pay the high cost for staffing the order processing department, businesses have been able to pass the savings onto their customers. Once a business website is established effectively, the costs for order taking fall to nearly nothing.

E-commerce has also grown the way financial institutions do business. For example, online banking allows customers to shop for the best interest rates, mortgages, and customer amenities from their home computers. Managing finances can be handled from nearly anywhere in the world – monthly payments can be made, monies can be transferred, and payroll deposits can be made without ever setting foot in a brick-and-mortar bank.
